For Women Only: to unwind and stop cramps

This is an excellent and affordable way of stress release, but for women only. It’s nothing else than a hot bath with the magnesium and sulphur rich Epsom Salt. We use this in our anti-inflammatory protocol and for so much more. Thanks to its liver supporting properties indirectly it helps working on hormonal dysregulations, quality sleep, and the magnesium absorbing through the skin eliminates cramps.

Epsom Salt Bath

Why only for women? Men should keep their testicles kind of cool. Ideally at around 34ºC (93.2ºF), 3ºC (5.4ºF) below normal body temperature. It’s not only for optimal sperm production but also for long term sexual functioning. Simply man should not sit in hot water. For men I recommend a shallower version: soak the feet maybe with lower legs up to the knee in hot water with Epson Salt.

If you are a woman (or if you don’t need to consider your testicles) and recognise any of these symptoms, you can benefit from a nice hot bath with 2 cups of Epsom Salt in:

  • Lethargy, anxiety, depression, or high stress levels
  • Difficulty sleeping
  • Weakness, spasms, or muscular cramps
  • Poor concentration and memory
  • Constipation or other digestive issues

How Does It Work?

Most of the research that has been done on Epsom salt studied the effect of high magnesium content and transdermal magnesium intake. This is without a doubt one of the best Epsom salt benefits for the body. The skin is the largest organ, which in the hot water allows more absorption than if one applies a magnesium rich cream on the skin e.g. Research indicates that hair follicles and sweat glands absorb the magnesium most efficiently from Epsom salt bath, so soak your head every once in a while, and don’t forget to take magnesium supplement, too.

Other beneficial nutrient in Epsom salt is sulphur, that when forms hydrogen sulphide is beneficial for the microbiome, and is protective from reactive oxygen species. Sulphur plays a vital role in detoxification in the liver, and this Epsom Salt rich hot bath is an efficient way and very safe amount to bring in sulphur through the skin.

Research published in Microorganisms indicates that sulphur found in Epsom Salt bath reduces inflammation, pain, oxidative stress, risk of thrombosis or even cancer.

You can enhance the joy adding couple of drops of your favourite essential oil. Levander or Ylang Ylang would help relaxing, essential oil Lemon the other hand would enhance the anti-inflammatory properties of your bath.

Stress management is essential in maintaining healthy microbiome and healthy urinary tract. You wouldn’t have thought, but pathogenic bacteria is thriving on stress hormones. So let’s manage stress well because you can’t completely eliminate it from your life.
